U N I V E R S E O F Á L I in partnership with Vegan Social Events, created by Love Wild Live Free, presents 'WIZARD OF ODDZ', a third annual Halloween Charity Event, was held on October 21st, 2016. Benefiting Story Book Farm Primate Sanctuary, Canada's only Monkey Sanctuary, located in Sunderland, Ontario. This event was a tremendous success! Armour Heights Officers Mess was transformed into the 'Wizard of Oddz'. A variety of amazing live performers, a 'Flying Monkeys' Balloon Raffle with prizes, a 'Yellow Brick Silent Auction', fabulous complimentary vegan food, gifts bags, and a 'Poppy Bar' with inexpensive drinks made for an evening reminiscent of the Wizard of Oz.

STORY BOOK FARM PRIMATE SANCTUARY
Story Book Farm Primate Sanctuary (www.storybookmonkeys.org) is a Canadian registered charitable organization (#84081 7910 RR0001) is the only Monkey Sanctuary in Canada, offering 'freedom from fear', it is a place of healing and recovery from trauma. Currently home to 19 Primates, they provide a permanent home for primates retiring from biomedical research, zoos, universities, and private residences, as well as advocating for the well-being of exotic animals through education. In sanctuary care, they encourage friendships between residents, exploration and freedom of choice, giving back the ability to make decisions and control events that affect residents' lives. 100% volunteer run, Story Book Farm Primate Sanctuary does not receive any government funding and relies completely on donations.

DAINA LIEPA
Feature Guest Speaker, Daina Liepa, has an extensive background in marketing and fundraising and when learned that the future of the Sanctuary was in jeopardy, immediately stepped in and joined the board eventually becoming co-owner.
We were honoured to have Daina speak at our event. Guests learning that Monkeys indeed live in Canada and are bred to be pets as part of the Exotic Pet Trade, along with animal testing still being practised, left people in shock as to what animals face here in Canada.
PERFORMERS
Sofonda Cox opened the night with a very special appearance as the not-so-innocent Dorothy with her gang of outsiders, then broke free to the Queen she is!
